Dream Hair!

I would like this hair......So bad!!

Lightened and Toned Sians hair...Pretty lady <3

Hair is time. Women with short hair always look as if they have somewhere else to go. Women with long hair tend to look as if they belong where they are, especially in California. Short hair takes a short time. Long hair takes a long time.... Long hair moves faster than short hair. Long hair tells men that you are all woman, or a real woman, or at the very least a girl. Short hair always makes them wonder. Short hair makes children ask each other —usually at the school-yard gate, when parents are late— “Are you a boy or girl?” Men married to women with short hair should not have affairs with women who have long hair kept up with many little pins and combs. Once you have cut your hair you have to remember to wear lipstick, but you can put away the brush, elastics, and the black barrettes in the form of shiny leaves with rhinestone hearts. When you cut your hair you lose a nose and gain a neck. A neck is generally better than a nose. It does not need to be powdered, except on extreme occasions. It does, however, need to be washed more often. With short hair you suddenly dislike the month of March, when the wind blows down the back of your neck. With short hair you begin to crave pearl necklaces, long earrings, and a variety of sunglasses. And you brush your teeth more often. Short hair removes obvious femininity and replaces it with style. When it starts growing out a little and losing its style, you have to wear sunglasses until you can get it to the hairdresser. That’s why you need a variety. Short hair makes you aware of subtraction as style. You can no longer wear puffed sleeves or ruffles; the neat is suddenly preferable to the fussy. You eye the tweezers instead of the blusher. What else can you take away? You can’t hide behind short hair. Your nape is exposed. Men put their hands around your neck instead of stroking your long locks. You can only pray they have friendly intentions. The backs of your ears show, your jaw line is clear to anyone watching, and you realize —perhaps for the first time— how wide the expanse of skin is between cheekbone and ear. You may look a little androgynous, a little unfinished, a little bare. You will look elegant, as short hair requires you to keep your weight slightly below acceptable levels. However, the first time you wear a bathing suit with short hair, you will feel exceptionally naked. People who used to look straight at you will love you in profile. Short hair makes others think you have good bones, determination, and an agenda. The shape of your skull is commented on, so are its contents. They can pick you out in a crowd, and you can be recognized from behind, which can be good or bad. But your face is no longer a flat screen surrounded by a curtain: the world sees you in three dimensions. Chase to the cut.

Took Kellys hair from a golden/yellow blonde, to this ashy pearly blonde. So pretty <3

COLOUR

Johanna came in with natural dark brown hair, prelightened and made green. FUN  <3

Mel used to have copper hair, alot more vibrant and deeper, over time we have lightened to get a more pastel copper. So pretty <3

Spunky lil lady!

Cut and coloured Lizzies hair from previous cut, (see below)! Added alot more ash, putting depth into the roots fading it out to a pastel silver through the ends. <3

Laura had about 5 different blondes in her hair, with foils starting here there and eveywhere, making her hair look patchy and dull. I cleaned this colour right up in two appointments, achieving this cream  of creaminess. HOT <3

Its been such  a long while since i have been able to post new pics to this blog due to me standing on my lap top and putting nice green lights through it! I couldn't see what i was doing...Aaaaaaaaaah. New computer, new blogs.....Yay!!

Here is Arts haircut, due to NO mens hair being on here so far, Arts hair was done at home for a long while, two haircuts later and we got it back to this. Yaaaaaaay!

Corrected Kellys hair from a bright coppery tone to this golden blonde!

I love this image. So natural and cute. Loving copper again for the autumn....and if you have freckles, get them out!!!

Perfect Brown.

Sometimes i find it hard to really describe the 'perfect brown' so here it is. FOUND IT <3

Inspiration and current likes for hair!

Sooooooo, thought i would drop by and tell you all how, why, what and where I am currently getting my inspiration from. We all know I ♥ cutting short hair, and if runaways, editorials and red carpets are anything to go by , the chicest hair right now is SHORT!
Short back and sides, I love Tilda Swinton, she always is sporting amazing styles, from copper to blonde to dark, from rock n roll, to sleek and chic. Generally for confident short hair peeps. Rhi Rhi and Agyness Dean all sport variations of this style. Can be polished and sleek or with a touch of product, messy for a more relaxed look and a night out!
Pixie - Completely cropped, this cut really shows off your face and forehead, suited to most hair types and textures, ideal for oval, long and square faces, although i think anyone can pull off really short hair. Its your face, its beautiful!!!! Think Mia Farrow, Twiggy, Michelle Williams. CUTE!
Bobs - Of course Alexa Chung does the bob superly duperly well. I tend to take my bob clients down this road. It is classic, yet fairly chopped into, so again like our short back and sides, you can still be pretty and sleek, or casual and be a Miss Scruff!! Colour in the ends compliments this cut...So good. People with thicker hair can still sport a bob, just at a point of graduation!
Im enjoying long hair as well, and Kate Moss is a long hair style icon for me, both in cut and colour. Babein. I will keep posting photos of people above mentioned so you get an idea of what i'm talkin...........♥

Pastels.

Pastels are still rocking for me. And working for everyone that likes a lil spice!!!!

Neeny with her cute arse hair.....sleekly combed instead of her lil Afro! Love!

Nina wanted to go from copper to pastel pink, got her there with two applications  of lightening, and  toning with  base and additive. Managed to correct it in the one sitting with the hair still feeling like hair and the curl still curling. Yeyah!!!!!

Re-Style

This is beautiful Lady Di, aka.....Elizabeth! Cut and coloured Liz' hair, full lightener and tone on top leaving natural for depth on sides!

Love this!

Love this!

So...I guess i should introduce myself properly. I'm Rachael and have been living in Melbourne for now four years. I have been hairdressing coming into my 13th year. Through this time I have seen many different styles and trends and have worked with a number of extremely talented stylists and colourists. Upon moving to Melbourne from lil windy Wellington in New Zealand, I landed a position at one of Melbournes well known and respected salons FUR, working for Frank Valvo. I worked and was mentored by Frank for a good four years until I decided it was time to do a little travel. I experienced Berlin, Greece, Italy, Paris and London. This made my mind up for me, that I needed to come home and challenge myself further and do what I wanted to do with hair! I managed to find an incredible studio space on Gertrude St, Fitzroy, working independently  alongside three other very talented stylists.
. I like my work to stand out and to be worn with confidence, things that aren't quite right together but still work together if you know what I mean. I am very confident with colour and colour correcting, from dark to light, and vice versa.Strong and soft to classic and edgy.
Please feel free at any time to post pictures, questions, ask for hair advice.....anything you like  really, I would love  to hear from you all! <3

Restyle.

Restyled Nat Nees hair from well below shoulders to a long bob.....Super cute and natural!
